Peter Hanley

Peter grew up in Limerick and started music playing music when he was 8 years old. He took up the cello a few years later and has been playing in quartets, chamber groups and orchestras ever since.

He first took up the cello as a result of both his mother and his uncle playing it and went on to study Cello in the Limerick School of Music. Peter has played with several orchestra including the Limerick School of Music Senior Orchestra, Cork School of Music Symphony orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. Playing with the NYOI for several seasons Peter played in all major concert halls in Ireland and various countries in Europe while on tour.

Upon completing his Music Degree in the Cork School of Music and Masters in Queens University Belfast, he has returned to study in UL. Peter has played with the UL Orchestra on and off for the past 8 years but since moving back to Limerick 2 years ago he has joined the orchestra full time and is privileged at being asked to be the Orchestra Manager for the last few seasons.
